The Gallerie Mercatali of Veronafiere become a set for the film “Love Wins Any War”

The Gallerie Mercatali of Veronafiere were chosen as the location for shooting some scenes of “Love Wins Any War,” a film directed by Marco Pollini and produced by the Veronese company Ahora! Film.

The production, which involves Italy, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Spain, set a portion of the story, dedicated to the final period of World War II, in Verona. The headquarters of the Seaforth Highlanders, the Scottish infantry that fought alongside the Canadian and American armies along the Gothic Line, was reconstructed within the Gallerie’s spaces.

“Love Wins Any War” is set between 1943 and 1945 and tells the story of a Canadian soldier and a young Italian woman, inspired by real-life events. The film, supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Veneto Region, and the Veneto Film Commission, will be distributed in theaters and on major platforms in 2026.

The Gallerie Mercatali stand opposite the Verona exhibition center: inaugurated in 1956 and used until the 1990s as the city’s fruit and vegetable market, they are now an example of industrial archaeology, fully recovered and reintegrated into the urban fabric. In 2015, Veronafiere purchased the entire area from the Municipality of Verona with the aim of redeveloping and enhancing the building. Conservative restoration work, respecting the monumental constraint, was completed in 2020.

Today, the structures, spanning over 10,000 square meters, are managed as a multi-purpose facility for events, exhibitions, concerts, and other cultural activities.
