Veronafiere: promoting innovation with Fieragricola Tech and Samoter Lab

Innovation in the agricultural sector and new technologies for construction machinery necessarily involve continuous comparisons with companies. In response to new requirements, two new formats will make their debut at Veronafiere: Fieragricola Tech and Samoter Lab. They will explore effective possibilities for improving company productivity that at the same time are sustainable and technologically advanced.

Fieragricola Tech will be showcased for the trade audience 1 & 2 February 2023. It will be held on even-numbered years within the scope of Fieragricola, the biennial international show in the primary sector at the service of growth for companies and agriculture since 1898. The key areas characterizing the two-day event will be robotics and digital projects, renewable energy in agriculture and solutions for managing and saving water. The market for digital innovation in agriculture, in fact, is developing continuously and achieving constant growth. Investments in Agriculture 4.0 reached 1.6 billion euros in Italy in 2021, +23% over the previous year (source: Smart AgriFood Observatory, Milan Polytechnic University). Agrisolar and agrivoltaic are also opportunities for income diversification, especially at times like these when energy costs have increased significantly – +164% for electricity compared to September 2021 and +535% for natural gas (source: Italia Solare). There is also room for growth for bio-energy and renewable sources to improve efficiency for agricultural companies.

Federico Bricolo, president of Veronafiere.

Fieragricola Tech arose from the need to introduce digital technologies and innovation into agriculture in response to food quality and safety requirements but also to continue along the path of economic, social and environmental sustainability, protection against climate risks and rational use of water resources,” said the President of Veronafiere, Federico Bricolo. “Agriculture is called on to tackle ambitious challenges such as the ecological transition, the intensification of production, waste reduction and the search for methods, all the more so if shared over platforms capable of communicating and providing effective answers.”

Samoter Lab is the new beating heart of the 31st edition of Samoter, the international construction machinery exhibition scheduled at Veronafiere 3-7 May 2023. The new show area at the trade fair will focus on innovation, comparisons and training in the earthmoving, site and construction machinery sector, paying special attention to digitization and de-carbonisation. The project includes the exhibition of new technologies combined with opportunities for updating, training and discussion with producers, end users and institutions, as well as the world of research. Located at the heart of Samoter in the new Hall 12 opposite the main Re Teodorico entrance gate, Samoter Lab will host areas conceived around a tailor-made model. Space is made available here for remote sensing devices, diagnostic tools, the Internet of Things, machine-to-machine platforms and low-emission machinery.

This initiative is also linked with the Innovation Award – the Technical Innovation Competition that rewards investments in research and innovation by companies in the sector. After the Prize-Giving Ceremony scheduled on 23 February, the award-winning solutions and technologies will be highlighted in the Samoter Lab area through a dedicated event.
